Hello ๐ย
Howdy yall!! Wow what crazy news I got for transfers. But first off I want to talk about this week ๐ This week was good but Elder Thunell was unfortunately sick for most of it and so we spent a good amount of time resting at home. I've been pretty blessed on my mission to never get sick though lol. But pretty much every transfer my companion gets sick and I nurse them back to health. It was amazing though to see how the Lord magnified our efforts.
Almost everyday we still went out for a little bit – just an hour or two – and while we took the days slow, we we're still able to find a couple people and have some good lessons. Our friend Jean is truly wonderful and we had another great lesson with him and he came to our friday night gospel study. ๐ย
This week I also went on an exchange with Elder Douglas who is going home in 3 days. This was his last ever exchange and it was pretty good but it was crazy coming home and hearing him say, “All done.” It was also the exact 2 year mark since he left home. We had a good exchange where we went to 2 hospitals, one for a blessing, and one for a lesson with Elder Echols convert Christopher. Christopher has an incredible testimony and it's been sweet to see his conversion because somehow I hear about or see him every couple months. His health is severely declining but he still prioritizes the gospel.ย
But back to the rest of the week ๐
Elder Thunell is really incredible and has been like a brother to me. He has come so far since day 1 and I have loved teaching alongside him. It was an honor to be his trainer. And this is the sad news ๐ข we are being split up and we will not get another one together. But the HUGE curveball that has been thrown at me is that he is the one leaving New Braunfels – not me!! And I am staying here to train ANOTHER new missionary. ๐คฏ He will be leaving to go to San Antonio 3rd ward. This news comes as a big shock and I got mixed feelings but I think it'll be okay 3 transfers in one area with 3 different companions is unusual but the Lord has something important planned for me to do here I know.
I am going to miss Elder Thunell a lot and he has set a pretty high bar. So proud of my firstborn ๐ Hopefully my second son is just as awesome โค๏ธ Transfers will be crazy for sure!! So at the meeting where I get paired up with my new companion – my old one will literally be sitting in the overflow ๐ญ Can't help but feel like I am legit swapping bro out. So while I am kinda nervous about how this will go, I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains. And I will act in faith!! Reminds me of lyrics from one of my favorites of the new hymns:
Hymn #1060
“Noah was a prophet, a man who did not fear.
When he taught repentance, the people would not hear.
So the Lord told him to build a boat
That could hold a ton and stay afloat.
Then Noah started building and said within his heart:
โI will build an ark before it starts to rain.
I will follow the Lord, and His words I will obey.
Iโll prepare evโry needful thing.
I will walk in righteous ways.
When the rain starts to fall on me,
Iโll be ready for that day.โ
With Love,
Elder Noble
