Howdy Yall!
This past week was really great and I would like to start this email off with my spiritual thought! As I was studying in Alma this week I was reminded of an iconic verse and I recognized how true and real it was to me this week!
It is Alma 37:6, “Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.”
My overall mood this week was very positive and happy and great things were surely brought to pass! Lots of small and simple things happened that made me feel seen, loved, heard, and understood by my Heavenly Father and also my parents, brothers, and fellow missionaries.
This week was great! It started out with getting the best package ever!! Because this upcoming transfer will be immediately after my birthday, my parents sent me my birthday package early! I can tell my mom put it all together very carefully and with special love! My jaw literally dropped when I opened it and I was so happy! I got a sweet watch that I love!! And a bunch of awesome ties including one that looks like the old Church foyer floral couch design!!! I also got a hilarious shirt with a shirt that says respect my authority which has been a running joke here with the other Elders and I. My favorite part of the package though was easily the card my family made for me! I was crying from laughing so hard! My mom wrote me a sweet thing, and my Dad wrote a letter saying he wanted to be old fashioned, and my brothers wrote the funniest stuff ever!! 🤣 I love how they all sign with love except Sawyer signs Kind Regards. Literally died laughing! 😂
Then the next few days I felt the spirit help me teach Jesus Christ's gospel so much. Some of my favorites were we had a lesson at the church with two elderly men who are twins! They are super humble and want to learn more about God. One exclaimed that he didn't really believe in God much but that he wanted too! That desire is the first step of faith and his humility was so Christ-like. We also introduced the Book of Mormon to a friend who has been struggling in life and she said “where has this been my whole life?!” Then I went on an exchange with Elder Echols to his area and met another super humble and Christ-like individual. He is seeking a closer realtionship with Jesus but has been studying deep theology like crazy. We got to nerd out over it and it was fun, but what was best was the Holy Ghost was present and its feeling was so strong! I told him at the end that what he was doing was great and fun! But I testified that from my own experience and from the pure doctrine of Christ that the thing that is going to get him closer to Christ is reading the Book of Mormon, coming to Church and praying. The spirit was so strong and he started tearing up as I bore my own testimony of how God changed me.
I really loved getting to see this past week some of the most humble people I have ever met. Lots of people are looking for truth, they just don't know where to find it. But I have seen God put me in the spot I needed to be. This weekend was a little dissapointing though with a “winter storm” which wasn't even that bad but we were asked to stay inside and Texans were freaking out and buying everything at the store. I bet there will be lots of returns made this week LOL! 😅 It was just crazy cold but we bundled up in lots of sweaters when we went outside. There was a bit of freezing rain but not too bad. Sadly Church got canceled but in the evening we got to go to dinner with one of my favorite families. The Drurys are a super cool family and while we were there Sister Drury said she loved us enough to give me a can of Dr. Pepper creamy coconut! And while to many it may seem foolish – to me it was a small and simple kind act that brought great joy to me! It is one of my favorite sodas but one that has been the hardest to get my hands on! That is why despite the frustrating weekend with the storm, this week was still great because lots of small and simple things happened that made me happy!! Anyways! Love yall, may God bless you and the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ fill your hearts!
With Love,
Elder Noble
