Howdy Yall!
What a great week it has been! I have had lots of fun this week. This week was my first zone conference which was super cool. We had lots of fun getting to socialize with other missionaries and I saw Elder Stonehocker again this week which was epic.
This week I got to go on an exchange with Elder Redford who is from Idaho. He was a lots of fun and a very impressive missionary when it comes to finding new people. But we had lots of fun together singing sea shanties lol. We also found 5 people that night and planted tons and tons of good seeds. He also got sent this box of Arizona Juice that is Rizzberry featuring the Rizzler on it which is hilarious. He held up the can in the zone conference photo so see if you can spot it lol.
The work this week was a little slowed down, we had to drop lots of people who weren't able to keep commitments which was disappointing. We also couldn't find anyone who isn't homeless. Which while we invite homeless people to church, its hard to work with them towards their own goals because you have no idea where they will go. One we were teaching for a bit isn't even in this town anymore. This upcoming week we will be refocusing efforts elsewhere to places where though it may be more difficult to find people to talk to, we will be able find people who can at least stay in town lol. Also while doing Facebook finding I found on the Guadalupe County Jail page that multiple friends were arrested for bad choices this week 🙁
But anyways another funny thing is yesterday a van pulled up and at first was like who are you and stuff. But once we realized it was a member it was very funny. He told us next time people ask if we are “Mormon” to say “No. We are Mission Mormanaries of The Church of Cheese and Rice of Rattling Snakes.” Which I found very funny.
I also learned how to play some card games and those have been very fun and enjoyable socializing with the other Elders. Which I don't think I mentioned this in my last email, because I focused on the spiritual learning and changes I've had, but Halloween ended up being fun. As missionaries we are required to stay in our apartment after 5pm on Halloween because of many reasons. Which intially was boring until some Spanisb Elders joined us and we played Texas Hold Em. And for one it was my first time but dang do I suck at gambling monopoly money in a poker game lol. I only won 3 times put of the 50 or so we played lol. But lots of fun hanging out with each other.
Also we haven't really had any member meals at all. But Bishop and his family has had over multiple times for dinner. And they're a really fun family and they've been super nice. And I am very grateful for those fun dinners where we laugh lots and eat good food.
I know I kept this email a bit shorter, but I do want to close with sharing one scripture. Yesterday Elder Bentley, a senior missionary in my ward, gave a talk and he shared this scripture that really stuck out to me.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8 ¶ “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
I just really liked this scripture because it reminds me to have faith in Jesus Christ and trust he will lead us to those who are ready to receive his restored Gospel.
Another quote I liked this week from Sister Training Leaders training is from Master Shifu from the hit film Kung Fu Panda lol.
“If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than who you are now.”
It reminds me to stretch myself to newer and higher goals and that is how we can grow. Anyways I hope yall have a good week and I pray for Peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to be upon you.
With Love,
Elder Noble
