Hello my friends!
It has been quite an eventful week! This week we had quite a few service opportunities. On Tuesday we helped out at the local Christian Cupboard which is run by our ward on Tuesdays. There we help people in need come get food for themselves and their families. I helped take it out to peoples cars and helped get bags of food ready. We also got to help at a service project at a pumpkin patch. Well I wouldn't call it a pumpkin patch, but in front of a local church there is a huge area filled with pallets of pumpkins that have grown elsewhere. And so they shipped them and then we helped carry and “restock” the pallets full of pumpkins. It felt very festive.
Seguin is a rather small town and parts of it feel a lot like stuff you only see in movies. There are a couple roads with banners hanging over them about all sorts of community fall events. And there are lots and lots of churches here. Our church is in the very center of town, almost on a well known intersection so lots of people usually recognize us. The majority of the people here in Seguin are very nice and polite and I have loved getting to meet new people.
So far our teaching is going very well too. We currently have many friends we are teaching but unfortunately we haven't had the easiest time finding new people. Two of our friends who I really love, are really wanting to be baptized. We have them on date for November 8 so please pray this happens! Prayer is a great way to support others and help our efforts as missionaries.
This week I also got to go on an exchange with Elder Williams and he was awesome! I had so much fun with him and I got to go to his area which is the western side of Seguin. I met lots of cool people there and also got to introduce some people to the Book of Mormon. What a lot of people don't know about the Book of Mormon is that it is a tool that helps us get closer to Jesus Christ. First and foremost the purpose of the Book of Mormon is to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the very eternal God. In my life, especially as a missionary, daily reading of it has supported me throughout the day and lifts me up to face the challenges of the day. And it also provides words of counsel and comfort that help when I have a rough day out in the world. If you wish to support missionary work, I promise one of the best ways to do so is to read it. I want to invite all who read this email, to read 3 Nephi 27 in the Book of Mormon this week. And if you have thoughts on it I would love to hear them. I promise that reading the Book of Mormon will connect you to Jesus Christ and help you to feel the spirit if you approach it with a sincere and open heart. And blessings will pour out upon you. I am seeing that daily right now.
The other day after reading from the Book of Mormon it came time to plan our day. When looking at the map I felt prompted to go to a certain road, get out of the car and I will know where to go. So we did that and after just a few minutes I saw a man doing work on the side of his house. I approached and asked him how he was doing. He said he was actually having a very hard time as his wife was diagnosed with a serious disease. We then prayed for him and his wife right then and there. It was so powerful and he said thank you. He also wants to connect himself more to the Lord, and he wants to know more about God's plan for us. So right now we are planning on connecting later this week, but regardless of what happens, I know that event right there was exactly where God needed me to go.
This week we have many exciting events coming up, on Wednesday I will return to the mission office to see the missionaries I came here with. Really hoping to see Elder Stonehocker!!! I miss him lots, what a great friend he is to everyone. That same day we will also be one of the first groups to enter the newly renovated San Antonio Texas Temple. And then on Thursday President Bramwell is coming to visit. On Saturday our ward is hosting a huge community trunk or treat. This Fall Festival is anticipating 3000 attendees and we are gonna be helping out at that and also decorating our car and handing out candy. So lots and lots of exciting stuff going on!! Oh and hopefully I make it to Bucee's on the way home from the temple or I will crash out. LOL Looking forward to it! Anyways I love you all and wish you well in all your endeavors!!
With Love,
Elder Noble
